Monte Vista Municipal Airport Master PLan Overview
Owned by the City of Monte Vista the Monte Vista Municipal Airport serves general aviation in the San Luis Valley. The airport has one paved runway and two dirt crosswind runways primarily used by agricultural spray planes. The master plan’s main focus is correcting a poorly designed connector taxiway by widening to taxiway design group II and upgrading the runway to B-II width.
Additional focuses of the master plan included runway pavement strengthening, an additional connector taxiway, relocation of the fuel tanks and self-serve fuel, gate location, siting of a snow removal equipment building, fence/gate improvements, through the fence agreement discussions, and writing a runway protection zone technical memo. The Master Plan was adopted February 18, 2021.
